I'd gone off going to the cinema for a long time. It didn't help the last thing I went to see was the "fantastic four 2." But with Iron Man coming out and followed shortly by a new Indiana Jones, I thought it would be worth going back to ye olde talking picture parlor.

While the last film I went to see was technically Indy 4, I also went to see Iron Man just a day or two before; And I enjoyed both of them immensly! Great films, definately worth a trip to tha cine-house!  Big Grin

So what about youse, what was the last film you saw?

Last film I went to see was Indy IV.

Beginning was awful, very wooden and way to OTT - dare I mention the fridge bit!  I mean sheesssh!

Middle part was quite enjoyable though - more typical Indy.  Smiley  Ending a bit ho-hum.

The kids loved it though.  But then they havn't seen how good Raiders is yet  Grin

I have to respectfully disagree here. The fridge was the best bit in my opinion, and the only one who felt wooden to me at the beginning (and most of the other scenes as well) was Cate Blanchett. Or as I heard someone call her "Cate Blank-actress." -And the CG backdrop as the sun sets before they go into the warehouse was pretty poor.  Geek Though I do agree with you on the ending.

I loved the over the top aspect of it, it's one of the things that makes the film stand out even with it's gaping (and some would say deliberate) plot holes! And the bit with the swinging? No thanks. In fact most of the film was a bit cringe worthy, but the feeling quickly disappeared when I realised how over the top the whole thing was (and proud of it too). The sheer OTT-ness of it is why I enjoyed it, just like the other Indy films.  Wink

Having said all that it seems that; apart from people who dont like it all together, I think alot of people like very different parts of the film from each other. Different strokes et al, eh?  Raspberry  Big Grin

I think Indy was awesome until the ending... I mean, Indiana Jones and aliens? That's a bit rotten in my honest opinion.

So I went to see the hulk today. I thought it was pretty good, though I'm one of those aliens who genuinely likes Ang Lee's Hulk film. And good news, this one stands on it's own and doesn't try to overwrite or replace Ang Lee's film. Which is good news on two fronts: 1) It's not another origin-of story. 2) It gets to the point quite quickly.

I didn't really have any intrest, beyond mild curiousity, in this movie before hand and I'm glad because it made all the more entertaining when I didn't feel like I had wasted a fiver. lol

I'm sure alot of people who didn't like the other film will probably enjoy this more for it not being the other one, but it's very enjoyable, if a bit run-of-the-mill in places. The cgis look quite ok too, with the final conflict squence being quite thrilling in my opinion.

Worth a watch; but I don't blame you if it generates nothing but apathy in you. for it.

Yea they kind of kept it quiet on the marketing front, probably because it was so soon after Iron Man.

Hi All ( Love the New Look Forum)

Went to see Indy 4 this week,  to be honest I was a bit disappointed , Ive always been an indy fan , didnt like 2 and although this was a big budget speilberg production and moved fast it was a bit too much tongue in cheek?!

I agree about Blanchett very blank,,  thought the ants and DUWK chase good. and the skull / aliens suggestive re the supposing origins of the skulls /  Predator
style .

Loved iron man and now will think about the new hulk??  Is it right that iron man appears in the ending ??  link to a next film with them both Huh?!! Wink Wink

Hi Phil good to see ya here.

Do go see the hulk, it deserves at least one watch. Oh and yes there is a link to Iron Man at the end. Though technically it's Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) who makes an appearence, there is suggestive talk of Stark offering "help" General Ross with his "problem."

Guess what guys and dolls, I went to another film in the cine-flick-ture house! I've gone from being movie-plex phobic to being a irregular down at the drive-in... Shock Help Geek

So this time I went to see Hancock, yesterday. Now I don't go to just any films; I'll go to a film if I feel I have a good chance of enjoying most of it, or at least part of it. And I was not desperate to go see this flick, I figured it's bound to be up a certain standard and at least watchable. I was right of course.

*There was a short trailer for the new bond "Quantum of Solace" with this flim.*

Will Smith plays a self-loathing super-hero crime fighter who begrudgingly rescues whales, thwarts criminals and tries to help maintain peace on the city streets... except his headline-grabbing exploits always end up with millions of dollars worth of damage and the public is not amused. Comedy ensues obviously... ever wondered what happened if super man got drunk?

So it starts out with some criminals doing crimeity interspersed with shots of a bedraggled and unkept hobo-like person asleep on a bench with whiskey bottles strun about him. Meet John Hancock. A kid tries to wake the crouchy Hancock to intervene on behalf of the policia and eventually after lifting one of his whiskey bottles off he flies! Just seeing him fly is quite funny, cause he awkwardly lists, pitches up'n down and always seems ever some what out of control.

The first half is more enjoyable for me than the second half when things get a bit serious, however it's an enjoyable watch overall. The last quater feels a bit rushed but nothing happyness breaking. I'd recommend this as a DVD rental/purcahse for all those cine-phobes out there as it's a pretty good film but not one that would make ya re-consider your movie-going attitude. lolwalloftext

Well this is turning into my very own cine-"blog" type jobby... Anyway, without further "a-Huw" I give you...

The Dark Knight

Welcome to a world without spoilers

Well chances are; if you are/were going to go see this flim-flam-film at the talkie picture theatre you pobably already have done. For those movie-plex phobics, whom I probably can't convince anyway, I highly recommend this as a definate trip to the metaphorical drive-in. It's extremely dark, disturbing, thought-provoking, funny, thrilling, frightening, somber, smart, haunting, exsistenstial, philosophical and full of surprises.

It's the type of expeirence cinema was made for!

It's not without it's niggles though... Maggie Gyllenhaal never quite sits flushly with the rest of the cast, a scene or too of cheese sneaks in and for some it may be too long (at 2hrs 20-ish) but they are minor nit-picks at best. Also, if you do go see it... dont bring young children plx and keep an eye out for a special moment on a bike. Even if the film was absolutly terrible, Heath Ledger's Joker would make up for any flaws in any other part of the movie, he captures your attention and a little bit of your soul. "What doesn't kill you, only makes you..."

It deserves to be watched with rapt attention, in my opinion. Need I say more?  Roll Eyes
